Work Day Evening Routine
As mentioned in the work day morning routine, this routine also varies depending on if Leonard is on his early or late shift.
The same also goes for trying to get some little bits done in the evening, but by the time I get home I’m normally ready to just get to bed. I do try and get the washing out of the washing machine on the evening, just to get it out so it doesn’t sit in there any longer. I look through Sophie's dirty clothes and any that I think that need some extra attention to what may stain, I try and get this started. I also make my breakfast and lunch for work the next day and get it put in the fridge. My main aim is to get anything done to try and make life easier in the morning.
On weeks that Leonard is on his early shift, by the time I get home with Sophie, he is still a couple of hours away from the end of his shift. I get home with Sophie and she will have a few minutes to be able to play with her toys while I empty my work bag and take out the dirty clothes from Sophie’s nursery bag. I then take her upstairs to get her ready for bed. Wednesday is normally bath night, unless she needs another after nursery. We chose Wednesday as the days I’m at work are really long days for Sophie and it’s the final day of long days. So, on the other two days, if she doesn’t need a bath, I just get her into her pjs and give Sophie her toothbrush so she can start brushing her teeth. While she brushing her teeth, I carry her downstairs, boil the kettle, fill her bottle with milk and start to get it stood in the boiled water to warm it up. I set a timer, take Sophie’s toothbrush back upstairs and come back down. We will have a cuddle or she’ll play with some toys until the milk has warmed. Sophie then has her milk and I take her upstairs and put her in her cot.
When Leonard is on his early shifts, when I get home with Sophie, he’ll come and grab Sophie as we’re getting in. He will take her shoes off and she will have a few minutes of being home before being taken upstairs to get ready for bed. During this time, Leonard and have I have a quick catch up, mainly me informing Leonard about Sophie’s day at nursery. Leonard then takes Sophie up to get ready for bed and get her to brush her teeth. While he does this, I get Sophie’s bottle ready and warming up, take Sophie’s dirty clothes out her bag and replace the clothes with clean ones and empty my work bag. By the time her milk is warmed, I take the bottle up to Sophie and Leonard. I give Sophie a kiss and she will have a cuddle with Leonard before he puts her into her cot with her bottle.
Both routines are the same, it just varies on whether it’s Leonard or I that puts her to bed. Obviously, when I’m on my own, it takes us a little longer. By the end of the day, Sophie is just ready for bed as she’s so tired as it’s pretty much her bedtime by the time I get to her to pick her up from nursery.
