Work Day Morning Routine

Image
Hi there!     We have two morning routines on the days that I’m at work at Sophie is in nursery. These are alternated every other week, due to Leonard being on his early shift or late shifts.  But whichever shift that Leonard is on, I do like to do some little things just to keep things going. Once I am out of bed, I will make the bed, even if its just my side of the bed as soon as I'm out of it - mainly so I don't "fall" back into it. I also like to try and fold up any dry clothes from the airier in the kitchen, empty the washing machine so those clothes can start to dry and put on another load of washing, while I'm waiting for my coffee to pour and the kettle to boil. Obviously, this takes me longer than the kettle boiling, but I like to try and keep on top of the washing. If I do have some extra time, I'll try and get the dishwasher unloaded, but this doesn't always happen. But for Sophie, it is one of the two below...   When Leonard is on his early sh...

Speedy Healthy Crustless Quiche: Ready in Just 30 Minutes

Image
Hi there! I do love a good homemade crustless quiche. It’s so quick and easy to make and it’s easier to make than it sounds.  I make a crustless quiche at least three to four times a month. Mainly towards the back end of the week. Depending on how much veg we have left over in the fridge depends what goes in it. I find it such a great way to get all, or most, of that veg used up so it all doesn’t go in the bin. Which is a win for our bin and for our pocket!  Let’s dive into how I make a crustless quiche in 30 minutes.  Ingredients Frylight  Whatever leftover veg you have in your fridge that is still edible. I say edible, because we all know how quickly veg can go off in the fridge. Any seasonings or spices that take your fancy, or leave these out completely. Eggs - I normally use between 4-6. This depends on how much veg is going in the quiche. I aim to have enough eggs to cover the veg.  Cheese of your choice, or skip this if you wish.  My leftovers for th...

Nap Time Wins

Image
Hi there!  This post is going to be about what tasks I’m able to complete while Sophie is having a nap, for days that we are at home. Often, this isn’t much as I also want some time to sit and relax so I can recharge a little before nap time ends.  Once I have Sophie down in her cot, I come back downstairs and tidy her toys away, unless we’re going to see grandparents, then I’ll pack some toys into a bag to take with us so not all of the, are put away. It’s amazing how quickly toys and books end up spread all over the living room, including under furniture. And I clean up her lunch, the bits from her highchair and any that made it onto the floor. I try and do the rest of it as quick as I can, which is… folding the clean, dry clothes up and putting them in the basket ready to go back upstairs, empty the washing machine and reloading it. I try and sort out the dishwasher, that may be to just load up the bits that haven’t been put in yet, or completely empty it and reload ...

Mixed Feelings on Baby Groups

Image
Hi there! It took me a while to gain the courage to take Sophie to a local baby group. After a lot of debating and encouragement from Leonard, I booked onto one online.  I tried to find ways of getting out of it before booking and paying for it. Does it fit in with nap time? Will Sophie need a bottle? What do I take with me? But in reality, she could nap whilst there, I could feed her whilst there and I would just take whatever she would need in that time with me. But I paid the £6 and got Sophie’s name on there.  The next afternoon, we went. Sophie napped before we went, but I was still unsure about it. I had heard how horrible baby groups could be, which didn’t help me. Anyway, we turned up, on a Tuesday afternoon for the two hour session.  The place I had booked had two rooms. One was a normal room with different toys in and the other was a room that was almost dark, the curtains and door was shut, but all the toys lit up. It all looked incredibly nice. There wa...
